Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using speedrun.io ("the platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree to these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing the platform. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time; continued use of the platform after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. All previous versions of these terms will be readily available.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use speedrun.io. By using the platform, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement and that any information you provide is accurate, current, and complete. If you are using the platform on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

Ownership of the Platform

speedrun.io and all of its original content, features, functionality, design, code, and infrastructure are owned by speedrun.io and its operators and are protected by applicable intellectual property, copyright, trademark, and other proprietary rights laws.

Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership rights to you. Your use of the platform does not grant you any ownership interest in speedrun.io, its services, its underlying data infrastructure, or any content made available through it. All rights not expressly granted herein are reserved.

Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized access or use of your account.

• You may not share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of third parties without authorization.
• You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent bans, restrictions, or other enforcement actions.
• You are solely responsible for ensuring your account information remains accurate and up to date.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use speedrun.io only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these terms. You are responsible for all content you submit, share, or transmit through the platform and for any consequences thereof.

• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent run data or claims.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform or its underlying infrastructure.
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data without prior written permission.
• Use the platform to harass, threaten, defame, or harm other users.
• Upload or transmit malicious code, spam, or any content that disrupts or interferes with the platform's operation.

Unlawful or Prohibited Use

As a condition of your use of speedrun.io, you warrant that you will not use the platform for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these terms. You may not use the platform in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair it, or interfere with any other party's use and enjoyment of it.

Specifically, you may not:

• Use the platform to violate any local, state, national, or international law or regulation.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your affiliation with any person or entity.
• Collect or harvest any personally identifiable information from the platform without explicit consent.
• Use automated means, bots, scripts, or other tools to access or interact with the platform in a manner that exceeds normal usage or circumvents rate limits.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any portion of the platform or attempt to derive the source code of any underlying software.
• Introduce any virus, trojan, worm, logic bomb, or other harmful or technologically harmful material to the platform.
• Engage in any conduct that restricts or inhibits anyone's use or enjoyment of the platform, or which may expose speedrun.io or its users to liability or harm.

We reserve the right to terminate access for any user found to be in violation of this section, and to report such violations to appropriate law enforcement authorities where applicable.

Content and Data

speedrun.io aggregates and mirrors publicly available speedrunning data. We do not claim ownership of third-party content. User-submitted content — including profile information, comments, and run claims — remains your responsibility. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display and distribute it as part of the platform.

Intellectual Property

The speedrun.io name, logo, design, and original platform code are the property of speedrun.io and its operators. Nothing in these terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, service marks, trade names, or branding without prior explicit written permission.

API Access and Developer Use

speedrun.io provides a public API for developers and researchers to access platform data. Use of the API is subject to separate terms that will be made available through the API documentation upon launch. By using the API you agree to those terms in addition to these Terms of Service.

Automated scraping of the platform outside of the documented API is governed by a separate data access policy, which will be published alongside the API documentation. Until that policy is published, any automated access to platform data beyond normal browser use requires prior written permission.

Third-Party Services

speedrun.io integrates with third-party services including Twitch and YouTube for authentication and related functionality. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of those services. Your use of them is governed by their own respective terms of service and privacy policies.

Disclaimers

speedrun.io is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

• The platform will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free at all times.
• The results obtained from use of the platform will be accurate, reliable, or complete.
• Any errors or defects in the platform will be corrected on any particular timeline.
• The platform or its servers are free of viruses or other harmful components.
• Data sourced from third-party platforms is current, accurate, or complete at any given time.

speedrun.io makes no representations regarding the suitability of the information contained on the platform for any purpose. All such information is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Use of the platform is entirely at your own risk. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the platform at any time without notice or liability.

The primary goal of speedrun.io is to provide a permanent, community-accessible historical archive of speedrunning data. In the event of any discontinuance of service, we are committed to making best efforts to preserve and transfer that data in a manner that keeps it accessible to the community, whether through public data exports, handoff to a successor organization, or other reasonable means.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, speedrun.io and its operators, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses — arising from your use of or inability to use the platform, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless speedrun.io and its operators, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

• Your use of or access to the platform.
• Your violation of any provision of these Terms of Service.
• Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights.
• Any content you submit, post, or transmit through the platform.
• Any claim that your content caused damage to a third party.

This indemnification obligation will survive the termination of your account or these terms and your discontinuation of use of the platform.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to speedrun.io at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine violates these terms or is otherwise harmful to users, the platform, or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the platform will immediately cease.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or your use of the platform shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Nassau County, New York, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
